2008/04/09 CSEP meeting

Attendees: Phil, Yan, Fabian, Amit, Masha

  1. Introducing Western Pacific testing region into the CSEP:
    • Amit generated forecasts with Yan's updated input catalog and CSEP automatically generated catalog:
      1. There are only 2 entries with differences greater than 1%
      2. Will send a summary to Yan after the meeting, Yan will confirm if forecasts converge
    • Amit will be working on Python class to automate Yan's forecasts within CSEP:
      • Phil asked how long it might take - Amit gave an estimate of 2 weeks
  2. Software development:
    • Fabian is working on QuakePy:

      1. There are unit tests
      2. Might need to write acceptance tests in CSEP to validate QuakePy functionality:

        • Phil suggested to export to other than QuakeML format, and import back into QuakeML
    • Masha is working on BatchProcessing module to automate re-processing of test dates in batch mode:

      1. Module is complete, working on unit test
      2. Still need to implement locking of directories to avoid race condition b/w multiple processes using the same directory
    • Phil suggested to define a roadmap for the next Version 8.7.0 release in next week meeting.
      Tasks to consider are:

      1. Batch processing module
      2. Introduce Yan's models for Western-Pacific testing region
      3. New models from Italy for Western-Pacific testing region
      4. Uncertainties for cumulative results
      5. Combine intermediate and true cumulative results in one plot
      6. Adopt QuakeML format for catalog data
  3. Should clarify April 21, 2008, CSEP meeting presentations with Danijel
